Maya's Puppies - 3 Weeks Old

These beautiful F1B puppies are now turning 3 weeks old. It is hard to imagine it has been that long!

They are growing fast and they are all so vibrant! Their eyes are mostly open but you can tell they are still just beginning to see through them. Maya continues to be highly attentive and she makes sure to sniff and lick each one after we take its picture - just to make sure we haven't done something wrong.

They are starting to try out their legs more and they are starting to get much more mobile. This week we will start the transition from our back bathroom to the heated portion of our garage. They will have more room to move around and it will be easier to keep them clean and hygienic.

Green (ribbon) - Boy has been reserved but there are still 5 others - including 2 girls - available for reservations. We expect all puppies to be ready to go to their new homes by Christmas, so start planning your surprises now!

Maya's Puppies - 2 Weeks Old

Here are Maya's puppies at 2 weeks. They are growing very well and seem to do nothing but eat and chirp/yelp. Pink Girl is especially "chirp-y"; I can always tell when she is moving around.

This is the time where the puppies will start opening their eyes for the first time. It makes for some strange looks from some of the puppies, but in the next day or two all of them will be open. This is when I feel they truly start looking like little dogs and not just cute blobs of fur.

Purple-Boy continues to be the most uniquely colored puppy I have seen. His chest is mostly white, and his paws seem to be moving toward white also. It is a very stunning and pretty look.

Maya is doing a wonderful job as a Mom - as she always has. Anyway, here are the most current pictures.

Maya's Puppies at 1 Week

Maya's F1B puppies were born on November 5th.The Daddy dog is Rufus. Here are some pictures of the puppies at 1 week of age. Their eyes won't open for another week, so right now they are just cute little blobs of fur. Since there are only 6 puppies, Maya has had an easy time keeping them fed and every puppy is growing like crazy.

There are 2 girls and 4 boys in this litter. Their colors are mostly darker than our "normal" litters, but this is Maya's first litter with Rufus who is a darker shade than Bailey was.

One of the most interesting colors is purple (ribbon) boy who has a white chest and a small "blaze" of white in his head. Very unique and distinguishing.

As we tell people when they ask us, there is no way for us to tell what they will look like as they age. Most will become a little curlier, although some of these are pretty curly at this age. The curl, as an adult, will depend a lot on how you choose to trim their coat.

These are cute puppies; enjoy! (I'll even stick a short video at the bottom)

Here's a short video I took on Saturday while my wife and I were "changing the sheets" in the whelping box. Maya was outside, and the puppies were doing what they do best - laying on top of each other and occasionally yelping.

Maya's Puppies

Apparently I neglected to mention there are 4 boys and 2 girls in this litter. If you, or someone you know, is looking for a girl, you should reserve one soon because these 2 cuties will go early. The boys are cute too, but there are only half as many girls.

Maya is an excellent Mommy. Every time we weigh the puppies, she gets her front paws up on the counter to see what in the world we are doing with her puppies. She is very attentive and the puppies are all growing as expected.

Here are just a couple more pictures:
