I'll put a couple of teaser pictures here, but the rest are at this link:

What's Going On? (12/14)

For those of you wondering how we are doing, and when our next puppies will be coming, here is a post from our "sister-site" SherwoodFarms.dog  That's right, we have Bernedoodles!

 **********

Terra's puppies are now 3 weeks old and they are adorable snuggle-sausages! All of them are walking on their still-wobbly legs and their eyes are open and starting to focus more. They are right on track with normal development.

They also love to make little chirping sounds as they learn to communicate. A couple of them are growling and one or two are actually trying out their barks. Mostly just squeaks and grunts right now. Again, right on schedule.

Terra is our family's Bernese Mountain Dog (AKC) and this is her second litter. Last year, we bred Terra with an AKC standard poodle to get F1 Bernedoodles. Terra's puppies were absolutely adorable, but they kept growing and growing and are now, a year later, much larger than we anticipated. Terra is about 103 pounds in her summer bikini attire, and the dad last year was about 70 pounds. At least 2 of those puppies are now reported to be over 100 pounds, and that is NOT what we were expecting!

This year, we bred Terra with an AKC poodle (Caesar) that only weighs 15 pounds. We are hoping to have puppies that grow to about 50-70 pounds. I know it's hard to estimate how the genetic "marbles" will fall into places, but we really think this is going to yield a smaller puppy.

Terra, as I said, is one of our family dogs. She lives right here with us - or, she allows us to live with her. Sometimes, I'm not sure which is more true! She is a complete people lover - especially when she wants to be pet or have her belly rubbed. Her hobbies are climbing onto our couches to sleep, jumping onto our bed to nap, and lying down on the floor to sleep. She loves car rides - even to the Vet - and she lives for being in the snow!

She is such a wonderful mommy

Caesar, the Daddy, is a 17 pound Moyen Poodle. "Moyen" is a size class that is used in Europe and is between a "standard" and a "miniature." The American AKC does not recognize "Moyen" as a size, so he is technically a standard poodle - but he weighs just 17 pounds. He lives with a family in Indiana, and we are using him as a contract stud because his genetic makeup allows for great coloring for the puppies when matched with Terra.

I'll post some individualized puppy pictures in my next post, but here are some general pictures of the litter. (Puppies with Yellow, Black, and Blue collars are girls. The boys have Purple, Red, Green, and Orange collars)

Terra's Puppies are Two Weeks Old (12/7)

They are just starting to open their eyes and trying out their legs - right on time! Once that stage is done, I'll have more specific and individualized pictures.
