Random Puppy Pictures - 4 weeks old

We had a puppy-fest today. Some friends came over and joined us in some puppy-lovin'.

A whole lotta cuteness goin' on...

Nova's Puppies at 3 1/2 Weeks

With her puppies born on January 1st, it is pretty easy to determine how old they are...

The puppies were  active in their box tonight so I set up the video and filmed a couple of minutes of pure puppy cuteness! They truly love playing with each other and are learning to jump one their siblings and wrestle around. All part of puppy growth.

The puppies are 2 weeks old now. They look so much alike, we really could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble by just taking one picture and changing the name 10 times.

Nova, the Mom, is doing a great job. The puppies are all growing fast, we were weighing them daily, but we now do it every other day since they are all growing so well. The puppies are all just opening their eyes so some of them still look glassy, but that will clear up in the next couple of days. They are all starting to move around, too. They used to just lie on top of each other, but now they walk/crawl around whenever they aren't sleeping or eating.

The recurring theme in the pictures, below, appears to be how tired the puppies are. They were all walking around when we started, but apparently they are camera shy and want to go to bed - I know how they feel!

There are 11 puppies (6 boys and 5 girls) but I only have 10 pictures... I lost count and we just missed taking one picture. We'll get it next week...

Puppies Are Here!!!

If you were going to wager on how many goldendoodle puppies would be born to a golden retriever on January 1, 2011 (1/1/11), how many would you guess? If you were smart, you would pick 11 - and you would be the winner!

Yes, starting at 3:30 in the morning on New Year's day, 2011, Nova started giving birth to 11 goldendoodle puppies!

Eleven is a very large number, so we are hoping they all make it. I expect some bottle-feeding support in my future! Nova is a great mom, but with 11 puppies she'll probably need some help.

The puppies should be ready for their permanent homes near the end of February - stay tuned!

UPDATE: There are 6 boys and 5 girls. Their weights are looking very good! Nova is a great mom!
