The Official Post X-Ray Update - With Pictures (2/25)

 Short Version of the Update:

  • Piper has 9 "buns in the oven"
  • Delivery is expected in about a week or so
  • No idea how many boys/girls there are
  • Puppies all look the proper size
  • She pee'd on the floor at the Vet
    • It happens to the best of us!

For the rest of the story, please read the post below this one - which was posted yesterday.

My kids freak out when I show x-ray pictures, but here it is anyway,

Yes, it is true... if you zoom in on the picture, you can see the little skeletons of the puppies. (yikes!)

This is a very safe part of the process. This allows us to know how many puppies Piper is going to deliver. The entire delivery process can take hours, so you always want to know how many more to expect.

I have a list of people who have expressed interest in these puppies - I call it my "Interest List" - and I will begin reaching out to those people once the puppies are born, and I know how many boys and girls there are.

Stay Tuned!

The Update Before the Update (2/23)

Many of you are waiting for the "real" update with is due in just a couple of days. If you have no idea what I am talking about, or why you are even still reading this, let me explain.

Our wonderful "Piper" is expecting puppies in the next week or two. We have made the decision that this will be be her final litter, so it is even more exciting! On Friday the 25th, we (Piper) will have an x-ray and we will learn how many puppies she is actually carrying. The initial Ultrasound suspected 9 puppies, but those are notoriously imperfect measures of a litter size.

This will be Piper's second - and as I said, final - litter. The Dad of this litter is 'Toby", who is an adorable 14 pound AKC miniature poodle. Since Piper is an F1 mini-Goldendoodle, the puppies will be F1B mini-Goldendoodles. That means the puppies will, typically, have curlier hair (vs. wavy), and will be even less likely to shed or cause allergy issues.

Piper weighs a healthy 35-40 pounds, but the Vet thinks she should be closer to 30 pounds. (Who among us hasn't put on a little weight this past year?) Her summer bikini weight is about 30-32 pounds.

Toby is a fun-loving miniature poodle (AKC) who weighs about 14 pounds. We first contracted with him to be the Dad of Biscuit's litter last year, and their puppies were so awesome we decided to use him again.

Since this is their first litter together, we don't have pictures to show you of what the puppies will look like, but we expect they will grow to about 25-30ish pounds. We will know how many boys and girls there are, once they are born.

Keep an eye out for the "real update" which should post on Friday night or Saturday - depending on how much coffee I drink...
