Is There Really Going To Be A Book? (7/30)

As we wait for the puppies to grow and move around more, we are getting ready for Biscuit's litter. She is due in about the next 10 days, and we'll see what happens!

On the good side, I have decided what the title of my book will be: "Don't Use A Wet Hand To Pet a Dog Who Sheds - Wisdom and humor learned through 12 years of breeding dogs in our home."

Now, if only I was able to actually write a book... or interested in taking the time... At least I have a title!

Puppies Are Two Weeks Old (7/27)

Today is Wednesday, and the puppies were born on Monday the 11th, so they are just a smidge older than 2 weeks. We are starting to accept deposits for these cuties, and I'm almost to the end of our existing Interest List.

If you are surprised I haven't reached out to you yet, please let me know. I believe I have at least attempted to contact everyone that had expressed interest in this litter's time-frame and puppy size.

Here are a couple of pictures, and maybe a video, to let you see what's going on. The puppies are starting to stand on their legs, and their eyes are starting to open. It's always fun to watch.

BOYS (5): Collars - Black, Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow

Girls (2): Red, Orange

****

Mr. Black is the lightest color, and also has the most unique highlights. He should grow out of his pink nose in the next few weeks.

Mr. Black is going to be stunning when he grows up.

Lighting is hard to compensate in a blue pool. Here, they look sooo dark!

Here, 3 seconds later, they appear much lighter.

This is probably the truest color. They are a nice warm brown and most of them have patches of white.

Mr. Black is definitely the lightest color, and this camera perspective makes him look huuuge! He's not that much bigger than the rest. Miss Red has always been the smallest, but she'll catch up quickly. She's out-eating her siblings.

This is a screen grab from our video monitor camera. Miss Orange (lost her collar) is hugging her brother Mr. Yellow as they eat dinner

Mr. Black didn't feel like crawling any further. "I'll sleep here..."

When Penny (mom) isn't feeding them, or cleaning them, or scratching the towels out of her way, she rests on a comfy, raised bed next door, but she's always attentive.

Are You On Our Interest List? (7/18)

A General Discussion of how I do things:

I am a little bit different than normal as a Breeder of puppies. If you have ever read some of my past postings, you know that "different" is possibly too kind of a word to describe me. I can definitely ramble with the best of them.

I also don't collect deposits from people who would like to adopt a puppy from us - until the puppy is born. I have NO interest in holding money from people and hoping we will have a puppy for them at the expected time. I don't want to hang on to you money.

I do, however, have an "Interest List" that I use to accumulate names of people who have expressed interest to me, have been referred to me by someone, or have just tripped over this site via Google.

Once I have an opportunity to describe our process and our probable future litters, I add their name and contact info to a running list I keep. Once I know we have puppies, and I know they are healthy and growing, I begin contacting people descending from the top of the list in the order people have contacted me.

Many times, I contact someone, and they have decided they are no longer looking for a puppy, or, maybe they found a puppy from somewhere else and decided that was the right puppy for them. All answers are ok with me.  I really just want ALL puppies to find good homes. I'll NEVER force a person into adopting one of ours. If it doesn't work out, I'll even send your deposit back!

Until I hear a "NO" or a "Not ready yet", I keep the person's name on my list in the same spot it has occupied. For example: I won't accept a deposit from #7 on my list, before I hear a final word from #2 and #3. No one "bumps up" just because they are quicker in getting back to me.

I have had people on our list for years at a time (I'm looking at you, Pat!). They just weren't ready for a variety of reasons, and then, last year, it worked! Everyone is happy!

So, if you are wondering how to adopt one of our puppies, or just have some questions, please reach out to me at info@CuteGoldendoodles.com or the contact info on the main page/menu.

Thanks!!

Puppies Are Growing! (7/16)

There are very few "certainties" with puppies that are less than a week old.

One is that they want to always (ALWAYS) be in a huddle with their siblings. If something "happens" and they get separated (i.e. one of them rolls off the pile) they always whine and complain and do everything they can to get back to the pile - unless they roll onto a heating pad, and then they just fall asleep again.

(Red and Orange are girls. The remaining 5 are boys)

The other certainty, is that they HATE (HATE! HATE! HATE!) being weighed. Yes, I daily torture them by gently picking them up and placing them onto the scale and then placing them back onto the puppy pile.

The whole process takes about 15 seconds, but they scream and whine - which makes Penny (mom) upset and she whines and tries to get them off the scale - which messes up the weight, and on and on.

Unfortunately, it can't be helped. I have to know that they are growing and thriving. All of the puppies in this litter are doing their "growing-thing", so everyone is happy - except when they are being weighed...

Miss Red fighting for her life!!

Miss Orange: "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Save me MOMMY!"

Guess where the other heating pad is??

But How Big Are They? (7/12)

People frequently ask me how much the puppies weigh. At this age, I weigh them AT LEAST once a day. Making sure they are gaining weight appropriately is critical.

So, for the numbers geeks and scientists out there, the average weight of these puppies, at one day of age is about 179 grams, or approximately 6 ounces.

Mr. Yellow - Just above the average weight, although they are ALL above average in adorability!!

For Comparison: (Courtesy of Google)

6 wooden pencils = 6 Ounces

A new one weighs about an ounce. So you need six new pencils to give you a total weight of 6 ounces.

Puppies! Puppies! The Puppies Are Here! (7/12)

Our wonderful and amazing "Penny" gave birth to 7 adorable pups yesterday (July 7, 2022). Most of the backstory can be learned by reading the last post (click here), but here are the basics:

Penny (mom) is a 25 pound Moyen/Klein poodle. ("Moyen" (French) and "Klein" (German) are terms for a pure bred poodle in a distinct class between "Miniature" and "Standard". This classification is not recognized by the AKC, but it is a commonly recognized class within Europe.)

This is Penny's 5th, and final, litter, but we had to use a new dad this time, so we do NOT have pictures of past puppies. (Sorry!) Based upon all of Penny's litters, these will be beautiful puppies with curly hair and patches of white color. They should grow to about 25-35 pounds and will F1B mini-goldendoodles.

I'll have more pictures soon, and more updates too! Feel free to contact me at any time, and ask any questions you may have. I'm always happy to answer questions - even if it means you find your fur-baby elsewhere.

Oodles of 'Doodles Coming Soon! (7/7)

It's official! Penny is pregnant, and she has 7 puppies in her! They are due in the next few days.

"But wait!", you say, "I thought you said last year's litter would be Penny's final litter!!! What's going on?"

This is a valid question and possible concern. Being a transparent person - some people call me "shallow" - I like to address topics up front.  We do NOT run a puppy breeding mill, and we take the health and safety of all of our dogs and puppies VERY seriously!

We work closely with a very reputable, local Veterinarian office that specializes in canine reproduction.  The same day they told us our Terra, a Bernese Mountain Dog, was NOT pregnant, we noticed Penny starting her heat cycle.

I took Penny in to the Vet for a check up and told the Dr. the whole story, including my core belief that, "I like most dogs more than most people." (Sorry) The Dr. assured me there would be no harm done to Penny with one final litter, and that she was very healthy and strong. So, we decided to go forward.

Due to availability, we had to find a new "dad" for Penny's litter. We found a wonderful, playful, and loving boy named "Charlie". Charlie is a 30 pound F1 Goldendoodle (one of his parents was a poodle, and the other was a golden retriever). That means the puppies in this litter will be F1b mini-Goldendoodles. We expect the puppies will grow to about 25-35 pounds when full grown. That's big enough to run and play, and still small enough to sit on your lap.

Anyway, Penny is doing great - except she complains about being called "fat" - and we should have puppies in the next few days. Stay Tuned!

Charlie:

"Hi! I'm Charlie!"

Mid haircut. He ran through a few pricker bushes

"Yes, I'm cute! It's my burden to bear!"

He loves a good lap to sit in

Penny: (Don't tell her I posted these pictures... she's very self-conscious)

Her "normal" look

Relaxing on the cool floor, and no, I didn't call her a beached whale!

Sometimes she has bladder issues when she's pregnant, so she wears a diaper.
